The Missouri Immunization Coalition (MIC) has taken a significant step towards inclusivity and accessibility by ensuring that the MIC website is now ADA compliant. Recognizing the importance of accessibility, the MIC conducted thorough research and discovered a versatile widget designed to enhance website accessibility. By integrating this new widget into the platform, the MIC has opened the door for individuals with various disabilities to access crucial information about vaccine- preventable diseases. “In line with MIC’s mission to promote immunizations, prevent disease, and protect all Missourians, the organization recognizes the importance of providing equal access to information and resources for individuals with disabilities,” said Nicole Cope, MIC’s Executive Director.

This new widget allows MIC’s website to offer a range of profiles catering to unique needs, making the MIC website adaptable to diverse user requirements. The Seizure Safe Profile, Vision Impaired Profile, Cognitive Disability Profile, ADHD Friendly Profile, Blind Users (Screen Ready), and Keyboard Navigation (Motor) are among the available options. These profiles empower users to customize their experience based on their specific needs, ensuring that everyone can navigate the MIC website with ease. This commitment to inclusivity reflects the MIC’s dedication to providing essential information on immunization to all members of the community.

With this new widget in place, the MIC is aligning itself with a broader societal goal of fostering inclusivity. “By utilizing this technology, the MIC has removed barriers for individuals with disabilities and enhanced the overall user experience, ensuring that vital information on vaccine- preventable diseases is accessible to everyone,” said Cope. This proactive approach positions the Missouri Immunization Coalition as a leader in promoting inclusivity and access to health-related information in their community.
