The Missouri Immunization Coalition (MIC) has launched a statewide Back-to-School Campaign aimed at ensuring children and teens are ready for the upcoming school year with up-to-date vaccinations. Beginning this month, the campaign is a multi-faceted effort that includes ads on META, radio, Spotify, and Pandora, as well as targeted direct mailers, and emails, all designed to remind parents and caregivers to schedule back-to-school immunization appointments and promote vaccines for children and teens in kindergarten through 12th grade.
This extensive campaign is already in full swing on social media platforms, with the radio component set to begin in mid-July. Digital radio ads on Spotify and Pandora will be accompanied by display ads, further enhancing the reach of the message.
The primary objective of the MIC Back-to-School Campaign is to connect parents and caregivers with essential educational resources about vaccines available on the MIC website. By providing easy access to childhood immunization schedules and other crucial immunization information, the campaign aims to encourage parents whose children are behind on vaccinations to consult with healthcare professionals about any vaccines needed for school entry.
The MIC’s target audience includes parents and caregivers of children and teens in K-12, adults aged 25-54, and healthcare providers such as local public health agencies (LPHAs), federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), school nurses, pharmacists, pediatricians, nurses, and physician assistants (PAs).
The campaign’s direct mailers include the childhood immunization schedule with links back to the MIC toolkit and additional immunization schedules, ensuring that parents and caregivers will have all the necessary information at their fingertips. Additionally, targeted emails are being sent to parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers to further promote the importance of vaccinations for school readiness.
“Our goal with this campaign is to ensure that every child in Missouri is ready to start the school year healthy and protected against vaccine-preventable diseases,” said Nicole Williams, Interim Executive Director of the Missouri Immunization Coalition. “By leveraging a variety of communication channels, we aim to reach as many parents, caregivers, and providers as possible, providing them with the information and resources they need to keep Missouri children up-to-date on vaccinations.”
